During the summer months the children decorated quilt squares based on a different theme each Sunday. These squares are now sewn together — the result is coming soon!
Our New Fall Programs have started!
The Sunday School Program at Symons Valley United Church welcomes all children between the ages of 3 years to grade 6 to participate in our Sunday morning classes run during the worship service.
This year we will be working with a new Curriculum for the 3 year olds to Grade 2’s called Spark. It is a curriculum with discovery and exploration integrated in every program, with lively, age-appropriate activities—such as games, crafts, or creative play— to accommodate all the ways kids learn.
Green and Red Room Themes:
September: Creation, Noah’s Ark,
October: Abram’s Call, Abraham and Sarah’s Visitors, Isaac’s Blessing, Free from Slavery
November: The Red Sea, The Ten Commandments, The Battle of Jericho
The Grade 3-6’s will continue to run on a Rotational Thematic Model that incorporates different learning styles. The children are able to engage with all their senses through games, song, crafts, skits, story and sharing while learning about the different stories and themes of the bible.
Blue Room Themes:
September: Bible Blast
November: Daniel and the Lion’s Den
Our Sunday school operates on a volunteer basis. All of our teachers are volunteers from the Congregation. Each class has a teacher and an aid who have had a police check in process or completed. Interested in learning more about being a Sunday school teacher? Talk to Kathy Dion or one of the Sunday school teachers. We provide training and will also provide support individually. As a new teacher you would always be paired up with an experienced teacher. All materials for each class are prepared ahead of time by a dedicated volunteer and the lessons are easy and fun to work with.
Whether you are new or returning to our Sunday School program you need to fill out a registration form each year. These are always available in the foyer, each classroom on Sundays and by clicking here. They can be completed and returned in person or electronically at kathy(at)symonsvalleyuc.com.
