Alibis, written by Peter Kennedy, is a witty and fast-paced stage comedy that weaves together a series of interconnected scenes all centered around one mischievous theme: the excuses people make when they’re caught where they shouldn’t be. Set primarily in a hotel, the play unfolds through overlapping encounters between guests, staff, and would-be romantics, each juggling their own secrets, misunderstandings, and elaborate cover stories. As the scenes progress, the audience is treated to a clever tapestry of humour, timing, and escalating confusion, where one character’s alibi becomes another’s complication. With its quick transitions, playful structure, and strong ensemble cast, Alibis offers both laughter and insight into human nature, reminding us just how creative—and ridiculous—our justifications can become when we’re trying to stay out of trouble.
