A Brief History of the Symons Valley Players
Founded in 1995 by Ann Crawford, the Symons Valley Players performed twelve musicals at the original Beddington location of the church. One of the plays, “One Voice” was written by a talented playwright from our congregation, the late Leslie Carmichael, with music written by Ann Crawford. This year’s production is the thirteenth show performed in our Kincora location, a space specifically designed to be used as a performance venue as well as a worship space.
Productions in the “new” building, include the musicals “The Last Resort” (2009) and “Race Day” (2010), as well as the plays “Hit the Road, Jack” (2011), “Death By Chocolate” (2012), “Desperate Ambrose” (2013), “Virgil’s Wedding” (2014), and “Cooking Can Be Murder” (2015) all directed by Ann Crawford. Lindsey Kendrick directed “Your Guests are Ghosts” (2016) and “Caught in the Act” (2017). Brenda Watt has taken over the direction of the plays with “Don’t Get Your Vicars in a Twist” (2018), “No Body Like Jimmy” (2019) “Agatha Crusty and the Village Hall Murders” (2022) and this year’s production of “Daddy’s Girl.” We are thrilled that the tradition of live theatre continues at Symons Valley!
