About Catherine McLay
Catherine’s artwork is a heartfelt tribute to Alberta’s natural beauty and ranching heritage, from sweeping river valleys and majestic foothills to local flora, fauna, and historic farm buildings.
A retired English professor from the University of Calgary, Catherine has been a cherished part of the Cochrane community since 1993. But her connection to this area began much earlier, during a memorable adventure in 1955 when she first discovered the charm of Cochrane, a town then with fewer than 500 residents.
Her works reflect the influence of Canadian icons like Emily Carr and the Group of Seven, with her unique perspective that brings Alberta’s landscapes to life.
We look forward to sharing this inspiring evening with you as we honour Catherine McLay and her artistic journey, a journey that would not be complete without your presence.
