We believe that God’s love is offered to everyone, and as a faith community, that we can be instruments of healing during times of grief and sadness.

Requests for a funeral, memorial service or celebration of life are typically made through one of our ministers, or by contacting the church office at 403-274-2361.

Here are answers to questions we are typically asked:

When can the funeral service be held?

Sometimes, funerals happen within days of death. Other times, a memorial service is held instead (where the body or ashes of your loved one are not present). Our minister will work with you to find the most appropriate day and time, as well as content to help you grieve, remember and celebrate the life of your loved one.

Where can the funeral service be held?

You are more than welcome to hold the funeral/memorial service of your loved one in our church Sanctuary. From time to time, our minister is asked to lead a service at a funeral home, and we are honoured to be able to be a part of this as well.

What is normally included in a funeral service?

Typically, our minister would meet with your family to carefully plan the service, and work with you to reflect the life of your loved one.At this time, information is gathered to prepare prayers, music and scripture selections in consultation with you.
An order of service may include:

  • Call to worship/Greeting
  • Prayers
  • Hymns/Special music
  • Tribute/eulogy/words of remembrance
  • Scripture lessons/other readings
  • Meditation

What music is provided?

Our accompanist is available to provide music for the service, and is able to give input to music that would be appropriate. Recorded music for the service (either by CD or iPod) is also an option. In addition, we have the capability to show a video of pictures of your loved one, as well as project a Powerpoint presentation that includes the words of any hymns and prayers being used. Please speak to the minister about this for further details.

Are flowers required?

Only if you would like them. Some families chose not to have flowers; however, flowers are more than welcome if you so desire. Flowers can be placed on the Communion Table and other areas of the church as chosen by the family.

Can a lunch be provided through the church?

Unfortunately, we are not able to provide a lunch or other food for the reception. However, we are able to share with you the names of some wonderful local caterers we have used in the past. Families are also welcome to bring in their own food and friends to host the luncheon.

Who can be contacted for further questions?
